Use a digi - New Challenge at Crafts and Me

Hey Peeps!

Are you ready for a new challenge? Over at Crafts and Me we want you to use a digi as the focal point of your creation. You can make anything you want as long as there is a digi on your creation. Isn`t that nice and easy, lol?

Our sponsor this week is our fabulous and generous boss Teresa. And the prize is 6 digis of the winners choice. Isn`t that awesome? There are some absolutely stunning digis in the Crafts and Me shop, so you are really in for a treat, lol.

Teresa has released some new gorgeous digis in her store and i have used one of these for my creation. When i was doing the post for the challengeblog last night i had to laugh to myself course we are three ladies that has used the same image, lol. I just say: great minds think alike, hahaha.

The image i have used this time is the gorgeous new "Lady of Opal" by Sara Burrier. I just looove Sara`s images. They looks absolutely divine.

I have used both ProMarkers and FlexMarkers and these are the colours i have used:

Skin:
Vanilla, Saffron, Oatmeal, Tan

Hair:
Cocoa, Tan, Putty, Satin

Dress:
Powder blue, Glacier blue, Ice grey #2, Cobalt blue

Other colours:
Coral, Berry red, Soft aqua, Ivory

These flowers i cut out from one of the paper collections from Pion Design. I believe it is the Bird Song collection. I am practicing on making a more "flat" card. I really have a hard time not using flowers that stick out. So i`m cuite satisfied with how this turned out.

Miss Mirabelle

Hey Everyone!

I have done a new try on some steampunk but i don`t quite know if i succeeded. I think you`ll have to be the judge of that, lol.

Before i continue with this post i would like to to ask you...I have been mada aware of that it is difficult to enter my site or that it is loading very slow. Can you please leave me a message if you too are having this experience? Thanks for your help.

I`m not sure if it shows too well but i have used a copper metallic pen on some of the details. And i think it looked kinda cool, lol. The image is called "Miss Mirabelle" and it is available in the Crafts and Me Store

The colours i have used for this image are:

Hair:
Black, Cool Grey #5,4,3, Prussian, China blue

Skin:
Saffron, Oatmeal, Tan, Cocoa, slate

Clothes/glasses:
Chestnut; Terracotta, Spice, Slate, Plum,

Wings:
Copper metallic pen, Gold metallic, Powder blue, Arctic blue, Glacier blue (flex-marker)

Other colours used:
Green, Tea green (eyes) Berry red, Shale (lips) Cool grey 3,4,5, black (make-up)

All the papers are from the new collection from Prima called Printery. This fragment i made by gluing the image on the backside of a clear fragment. The image is cut out from one of the sheets in the Prima collection. I just love how it turned out.

This metalflower i have had for a long time. Don`t remember where i bought it, but it is available in silver colour at the Crafts and Me shop.

These cogs are from Tim Holtz. As is the die cut clock.

As you can see of the pic i have painted the bigz die with crackle paint. I have used Rock candy for this one. Afterwards i inked it with Distress ink, Vintage Photo to fill in the cracks and make it look old. Then i dried off the excess ink with a cloth. On the same pic you can see better the copper colour i have used on the details. I also coloured the panel behind the image, in the same colour.

The wings has such a gorgeous mosaic so i covered them with clossy accent so make them look glasslike.

I have just received my first package of Flex-Markers and i used Glacier blue for some spots on the wings and i also coloured the background with it. My goodness what fantastic Markers these are. It`s almost like using a paintbrush only with more control of it. Allmost can`t wait to get my next shipment, lol.

Butterfly Tutorial

Hey my sweet friends!

Finally i`m here with my very first tutorial ever, lol, so i hope you bear with me. This is a butterfly i saw at Wild Orchid Crafts. I couldn`t find it in there anymore so i thought i`d make my own tutorial of it.

This is what you need:

A five petal flower like the one on the pic below and a pearl stamen. Both are available at Wild Orchid Crafts. In addition you will need hot glue, pearls or rhinestones to embellish your butterfly with and some stickles or glue and glitter.

First you`ll have to fold one of the petals to the back of the flower.

The back will look like this.

Now you fold the petal and make a little snip on the middle of it.

Then you fold the pearlstamen in two, and put the little loop down in the little hole from the front side of the petal.

This is how it looks like from the backside.

Now you put on some hot glue for a quick fixative and fold the petal over the stamen.

Now you have the butterfly with the antennas. But it looks a bit boring just like this. You can embellish it any way you like. I have used stickles on the edges of the wings and put a couple of pearls in the middle of it. If you prefer to use glue and glitter to embellish the edges that`s entirely up to you. You can also use rhinestones instead of the pearls or maybe you want to drop the glitter and put some rhinestones on the wings as well. It is just your imagination that sets the limit.

Here is my finished butterfly. If you want to see how it looks on a card you can take a peek in this link.

Hope you liked my tutorial and that it was close to self explanatory, lol. Good luck in trying to make your own.
